On Saturday 9 December, colleagues from across CYBG will be joining thousands of others sleeping out in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens as part of the Social Bite initiative - Sleep in the Park.

The event is aimed at eradicating homelessness over a 5 year period by providing people with housing, rehabilitation, job opportunities and the support they need to get back on their feet and through our participation we are planning on raising funds and awareness of the issue.

The statistics of homelessness in Scotland are not insurmountable and to play our part, we hope to have up to one thousand colleagues from across CYBG participating by sleeping out on the night.

We have set ourselves an ambitious team target of raising £250,000 - which the group will match fund - to bring us to our goal of writing a cheque to Social Bite for £500,000.

Chief Executive, David Duffy said ' Our goal is to write a cheque for £500k - let's make this happen and make a huge difference to homelessness.'

Any donation you can make will mean so much to everyone taking part and will make a huge difference.  Thank you.

£500,000 can:

1) Support the full service support of the Social Bite Village for over 3 years, providing a safe and supported environment for 20 longterm homeless sufferers to be brought back into society with job opportunities, skills and qualifications training and a planned transition into long-term mainstream tenancies. £150k p/a cost.

2) Provide 50 people with a "Housing First" support of a chronic homelessness sufferer into a mainstream tenancy for a year with a dedicated support team to ensure the success and long term sustainability beyond year 1. Cost £10k p/a

3) c.10 houses built in a Social Bite Village project to provide 20 homeless people with a safe, secure and welcoming home.

If you prefer reducing the scale to the personal targets of £250 can aequate to:

1) Hot meals for a homeless person for 2 months with Social Bite's Social Suppers meal service

2) Support of an Social Bite Academy place which provides training, qualifications and skills to ex-homeless, no-fixed-abode and vulnerable people in our shops, HOME restaurant and partner companies.
