Sheffield RAG are set to take their silliness very seriously for Christmas Jumper Day 2016!

On Friday 16 December, we invite students, colleagues and friends to join us in putting on the warmest, wackiest and most wonderful festive woollies we can find to raise money for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day.

Silliness is set to sweep the nation as millions of people in schools, offices and homes up and down the country donate £2 to sport a festive sweater for the day. From technicolour festive knits festooned with reindeer antlers to balancing baubles, the best bit is that all this silliness has a serious purpose.

Save the Children will use the money raised through this wacky woolly-wearing for things such as helping give children living in refugee camps clothes to keep them warm through winter, buying nutritious food for their entire family, or setting up a safe space to give children the chance to be children again. It’s a very silly way to solve some very serious problems!

In 2015/16 Sheffield RAG raised £130,000, donated money to 107 different charities and worked with over 80 student groups. Find out more at: www.sheffieldrag.co.uk.

Save the Children works in more than 120 countries to save children's lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential. Find out more at: www.savethechildren.org.uk.

What a great cause! I'll be wearing my Christmas jumper next Friday. It's easy to forget at Christmas time that in addition to receiving lots of lovely presents, it's nice to give something back. Merry Christmas everyone!
