The National Youth Dance Company of Scotland (NYDCS) has been invited to attend the Dance Bridges Festival in Kolkata in India from 22 - 29 August 2017.

NYDCS members Katelyn, Jennifer, Andrea, Eleana, Clara, Alex, Shannon, Antonia, Taylor, Alan, Rachel, Adam and Corrie are carrying out a variety of events individually and as a company to raise the money they need to go to the Festival.  The target is to raise £2600 by Sun 6 August.

NYDCS is extremely grateful for any support you can give towards their goal.

YDance established the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland in 2011.  Each year Scotland's most talented young dancers audition for the chance to become part of NYDCS.  Thirteen young dancers are chosen to have the opportunity to work with YDance Artistic Director and guest choreographers to improve their technical, creative and performance skills.  Each year they create a new piece of contemporary dance which they then perform and tour in Scotland, the UK and Internationally.

NYDCS is the only youth dance company to be invited to attend the Dance Briges Festival and will be representing Scotland at this International event.

The Dance Bridges Festival is an International dance festival with an emphasis on building artistic and cultural exchanges between international and local dance artists.  It showcases and promotes cutting-edge and exciting contemporary choreography through live performances and film screenings.

NYDCS will be performing "Maelstrom" (choreographed by YDance Artistic Director Anna Kenrick) in a large theatre venue, their new piece by Jerwood Award winning choreographer Yael Flexer in a site-specific venue and taking part in residency showcase and cultural exchange events.
