Volunteer Ben Gosling is running the Reading Vitality Reading Half Marathon in 2016 to raise money for Reading Refugee Support Group (RRSG).

Marathon man Ben Gosling

We are aiming to raise £1,000 from the marathon in March 2016 towards an overall target of £5,000 this year offset funding cuts to RRSG at a time legislation is making support increasingly difficult to access for refugees and asylum seekers fleeing persecution and prejudice, many of whom cannot return to their own countries, ever.

RRSG provides breathing space, a listening ear, free and confidential support for some of the most vulnerable people in Reading and in society generally.

RRSG exists to support refugees to integrate into the local community and provide advice and support to asylum seekers who can end up destitute and homeless with no recourse to public funding.

RRSG has been a vital and only source of help for many such people.

Your support is appreciated.

Refugees get a bad press in UK, when they are escaping unimaginable atrocities. Congatulations on supporting this cause.
