2018 Glencoe Marathon Gathering

The Glencoe Marathon, the first marathon to be run through this amazing landscape, links the great Glencoe with Glen Nevis. Taking in the Devil’s Staircase, a gruelling 500 metre climb over the eastern edge of the truly fearsome Aonach Eagach Ridge, runners will be rewarded at every turn with views of some of the most stunning and dramatic mountains in the Scottish Highlands. The Mamores Half Marathon joins the marathon route at Kinlochleven. The Glen Nevis 10K circumnavigates and summits Cow Hill behind Fort William adding 360 degree views of highland mountains and coastlines.

Joining instructions

The Glencoe Marathon Gathering is for individuals who are looking for a true endurance test in each of the distances. Make no mistake this is a serious challenge in a remote but spectacular location that will test your fitness, robustness and resilience to the limit. Previous experience of marathon, half marathon, 10K running, hill running and endurance events will stand you in good stead. It is important that you train appropriately for it, in terms of distance, ascent and terrain. Dogs are not allowed to run with runners. Participants must be aged 18 or over on 30th September 2018 to take part in the Glencoe Marathon and Mamores Half Marathon. Participants must be aged 16 or over on 30th September 2018 to take part in the Glen Nevis 10K.
