Match for a Day (MFAD) is a 24 hour football marathon fundraiser at the London Soccerdome. The concept is for an Ambassadors in Sport (AIS) team to play football for an entire 24 hours against local companies, organisations and teams who 'pay to play' for 50 minute games. Every penny raised through MFAD goes towards supporting the ongoing work of Ambassadors in Sport UK. AIS exists to reach out to the vast numbers of broken people, including the marginalised, vulnerable and homeless who can be difficult to reach by conventional methods. Without active support from people they trust and a focus that helps them think differently about themselves, they are likely to continue their sometimes self-destructive behaviour. Established in 1990, AIS works to bring about positive change for these communities. They have sought to pioneer and develop exciting grass-roots educational initiatives, focused around football, to transform people’s lives.
