Homepage
St Wilfrid’s Hospice provides Specialist Palliative Care - which means looking after the pain, distress and other symptoms of advanced cancer, Motor Neurone Disease and other terminal illnesses - to local people. Each year we are able to support around 500 dying people in the Hospice or at home. Our aim is to give people the support they need to help them to live with the problems and difficulties they may have as a result of their illnesses. For us, the quality of the care we are able to give our patients is of the highest importance. Each person is treated as a special individual, and we try to meet their needs for spiritual and emotional care, as well as their physical needs. Since opening our doors in 1987 we have been able to help nearly 10,000 people. We provide care and support 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and at any one time we are looking after over 230 people in our community. Our services are provided free of charge to anyone under our care. This year it will cost £5.1m to deliver all of our services and 85% of this comes from voluntary supporters and donors like you.
