Disability Essex is a registered charity set up in 1947 to enable people with any disability to control their own lives and enjoy to the full the opportunities which society, the economy and the environment provide. We currently help over 15,000 people across Essex each year and continuously strive to find new ways to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities of all ages vulnerable to social exclusion and poverty. Disability Essex offers a range of services which will soon be delivered from a new £2 million eco-sustainable office headquarters and fully accessible training centre. To name a few, we support a network of over 120 local disability clubs across Essex, reaching almost 11,000 individuals; we run a disability information telephone helpline and online database which offers advice and support to the whole population of Essex; outreach health and wellbeing services are delivered to around 5,000 local residents every year; we provide accredited skills training specifically tailored for disabled people; we provide minibus transport and mobility equipment; we undertake disability and IT research in partnership with academic universities. We also rely on the skills and commitment of around 60 volunteers to deliver projects, run our information helpline and raise funds. With your valuable support we can continue to provide services that make a real difference to people’s lives. Thank you!
