Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust
Cornwall Air Ambulance was the first of its kind in the country and has been flying since April 1st 1987. We have now flown over 26,000 emergency missions, helping people in their time of need. To keep Cornwall's only emergency air ambulance helicopter flying the charity needs to raise around £3.5million a year.
As we receive no government or National Lottery funding to help with our running costs we are entirely dependent upon support from local communities, individuals and businesses to ensure our life-saving helicopter can continue to take to the skies. From its base at Newquay Airport, the air ambulance can reach any part of the county within 20 minutes and the Isles of Scilly within 28 minutes, and on average arrives on scene within 12 minutes of a 999 call.
In 2015, we attended to 710 emergencies a year and airlifted patients with potentially life threatening medical conditions and serious trauma injuries to various hospitals in the South West. We are there for everyone – old or young, holidaymaker or resident. Cornwall Air Ambulance plays an important and crucial role in saving time and saving lives.
