Our work

Crossroads Counselling is a professional counselling service, established in 1994, situated in Bethnal Green.

Our aim

We work with adults on low incomes, and children, in Tower Hamlets who have enduring emotional and mental health difficulties. Through a relationship of trust and safety, we aim to help them recover from distress, pain or trauma; find ways in which they are more able to manage their lives; improve their relationships; feel better about themselves, and have hope for their future.

What we offer

We offer low cost counselling for any resident of Tower Hamlets aged 16 years and over at our centre in Roman Road. We also work in partnership with other organisations to provide therapeutic services within the community for children, in two schools, and adults.

Why we are here

Nationally, 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year and 1 in 10 children between the ages of 1 to 15 years currently have mental health problems. Tower Hamlets has many of the risk factors for poor mental health and yet counselling is often unavailable to people on low incomes due to limited and over stretched statutory services. We aim to fill this gap in service provision by offering counselling that is affordable for as long as it is appropriate and helpful.

Our ethos

Crossroads Counselling is founded on the Christian faith. We believe that all people are of unique value and live out this belief by using our professional skills to help those struggling in our community. We work with people from all backgrounds and all faiths.
