Re-Cycle
Homepage
Re~Cycles mission is to collect secondhand bicycles and ship them to Africa. To date we have shipped more than 43,012 bikes to 14 different countries including Ghana, Namibia, Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, South Africa and Lesotho.
Our partners (NGOs and Charities) distribute the bikes and teach riders the skills to repair and maintain them. A bike saves people from having to walk for miles each day in areas where there is no public transport and having a bike enables better access to employment, health care and education and can be a first step out of poverty. Our bikes also help health/AIDS workers reach remote villages and even provide an ambulance service in remote Namibia.
Re~Cycle also provides volunteering opportunities for a wide range of people in the UK. Our regular volunteers range in age from young people doing work experience placements and Duke of Edinburgh awards to retired people as well as people recovering from head injury and mental illness.
