The Bach Choir
Homepage
The Bach Choir’s aim is to inspire singers and audiences with the magnificence, beauty and emotional power of choral music.
Since its formation in 1876, The Bach Choir has been performing great choral works under a succession of eminent musical directors, including Ralph Vaughan Williams, Sir Adrian Boult, Sir David Willcocks and, since 1998, David Hill.
Our 230 members give much of their free time to promote a wide variety of concerts each year in world-class venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall with the finest soloists and orchestras. Members come from a wide range of backgrounds and anyone who can pass our stringent audition is welcome. Some join intending to stay for a couple of seasons whilst studying, and find themselves continuing to sing with us 30 years later!
We are entirely independent which means that we have the freedom to choose our own direction. We aim to commission and perform new choral music every few years and we always try to ensure that less familiar choral repertoire is performed, alongside well-known favourites. To achieve all this we rely on the generous support of individuals and companies, without whom we could not operate.
Since 2010 the Choir has developed a hugely successful outreach programme that delivers singing workshops to primary school children in West London. Weve enthused over 2,000 children with a love of singing since then and provided them with exciting opportunities for learning about performance and music.
Were committed to developing our work in schools, and continuing our tradition of presenting outstanding performances in the UK and around the world for many years to come. Your support will help us do just that, and we are extremely grateful for your donation.
