Central Hertfordshire YMCA
YMCA Space Hatfield Basement Fund
YMCA Central Herts are aiming to raise £5000 to put towards equipment to take full advantage of the new YMCA Space Hatfield Basement, and best suit the needs of the local community.
Monies raised will go towards resources such as art materials to expand the existing art taster sessions into workshops and projects – there is a lot of blank walls available to turn into a local gallery; a range of musical instruments to inspire creativity, and a set of exercise mats to compliment the new initiative to tackle anger management issues in young people.
YMCA Space Hatfield can be found at Queensway House opposite ASDA, next door to the library and provides a place for people to pop in for a free cup of tea; meet new people get involved or take part in specialist activities such as learning computer skills, art sessions and YMCA Youth activities. The new basement space is designed to be flexible and to adjust to whatever sessions are taking place at the time to best fit the needs of the local community.
A whiteboard was left in the basement for visitors to write down what they would like to see in the new space, some of the suggestions included an arts and crafts room, Job Club, poetry corner and music sessions.
As a registered charity YMCA Central Herts needs to raise at least £5,000 every week from voluntary donations and fundraising to support our work within the community. www.ymcacentralherts.org.uk
