Grandparents Plus is the charity for grandparents, family and friends bringing up children in the absence of parents.
300,000 children in the UK are being raised by grandparents and other family members (kinship carers). Many of these children have been neglected or abused or suffered the death or serious illness of a parent. Half have special needs or a disability.
Most of the children would be in care if their relative hadn’t stepped in to look after them, but too many kinship carers bringing up vulnerable children experience isolation, poverty and stress.
Our Keep Families Together campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for these forgotten families. We are aiming to raise £1 for every child in kinship care – that’s £300,000.
Help us support kinship carers to keep families together, through our advice service, support network and national and local events to bring people together. Please donate now.
