Help us to continue INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF OPERA

On July 12th 2013 Co-Opera Co. will be celebrating its 5th Birthday.

The company has come a long way since 2008 when Paul and Kate first decided they should do something to help singers at the beginning of their careers.

Our first steps were tentative - a series of weekend workshops in Bethnall Green, then we moved into full productions in 2009 and by the the end of our 2012 season, we find we have worked with over 700 singers and musicians, presented 7 new productions in prestigious venues throughout the UK and built an enviable reputation both within the industry and with our audiences and touring venues.

This 5th anniversary year sees us moving towards the next major stage in our development. In November 2012 our new Board of Trustees was formed with Simon Spence QC as our chairman and on March 8th 2013 we launch our Friends and Patrons schemes to help provide us with the financial stability needed to continue and build on our invaluable work …........ Investing in the Future of Opera.

There are several ways in which you can get involved and support Co-Opera Co.:-

As a Friend

Everyone needs friends and of course friendship should be mutually beneficial to both parties – we would hope that you will soon feel part of our community and start to build a close relationship with the company which will last for years to come.

As a Patron

Patronage is the life blood of companies such as ours – and not just because of the financial support it affords. Our patrons will have access to the creative process at various levels; some will have a specific interest in our development programmes, others will be linked with a specific artist for the duration of a touring production, and there are those who choose to support a specific production, being able to see it through from design to première. Whatever level of support you wish to give, you can rest assured that you will be welcomed most warmly into the Co-Opera Co. family.

As a Sponsor

The singers we work with in our development programmes are often at the stage in their training where they have minimum income but maximum expenditure. At the moment we have to charge for the work we do in our development programmes and although we keep the charges down to the absolute minimum, they can sometimes prove too expensive for some singers. We do not accept singers on our courses because of their ability to pay but their ability to sing – and the two do not always come hand in hand.

So in May 2010 we set up the Philip Langridge Bursary Fund in memory of our sadly missed founder member whose main aim throughout his career was always to help singers in whatever way he could.
