The Busoga Trust.
The Busoga Trust is a UK based water, sanitation & hygiene charity. Working mainly in Uganda we have constructed over 2000 safe water sources since 1982 (providing clean, safe drinking water to an estimated 1,000,000+ people) along with providing improved sanitation facilities and hygiene/health education.
After air, nothing is so important to the survival of life on Earth as water. Diarrhoeal disease, caused through unsafe water and poor sanitation, is the second largest cause of death amongst children under-5 globally. Furthermore, where it doesnt kill, it severely hampers economic development through lost time in school and employment.
In Uganda, according to the WHO, only 64% of the rural population have access to safe water. When you think that 87% of the population lives in rural areas, this means that vast numbers of people are in daily contact with deadly and debilitating diseases.
As a service provider, we actually do the work on the ground. We are not a middleman. Therefore donors can rest assured that the money they donate is actually going towards the cost of providing valuable, sustainable health interventions.
We may be small, but we work hard to make the most of what resources we have. Your support will make a real difference to rural Uganda.
