9 year old Markus Laddiman (now a 10 year old!) navigated (for his Dad) in a Landrover 110 travelling from the village of Horsford in Norfolk to the sands of the Sahara in Morocco in October 2011.  No mean feat this, as once they hit the sands, most of the trip was off-roading!

Not only was the object of the exercise to raise awareness of the Norfolk Zipper Club who support Papworth hospital but they also had collected pencils, pens, rulers, paper, notepads etc., to distribute to schools along the route.  They had also packed clothes and toys for the children who do not have much, deep in the Sahara, and gave these out to smiling faces at various stops along the way.  There are now two Berbers sporting NZC sweatshirts!!!

The purpose of the trip?

To raise awareness of the Norfolk Zipper Club a voluntary organisation who support Papworth hospital where a life saving heart operation was performed on Markuss Grandad, 8 years ago.

They were fortunate enough to have publicity in the local newspaper and village newsletters and have managed to raise funds for the NZC beyond their expectations.

You can also follow their exploits on Facebook " Moroccon Adventure 2011".

WELL DONE DAD AND MARKUS

ALL IN THE ZIPPER CLUB ARE VERY PROUD OF BOTH OF YOU.
