The purpose of Scouting is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual ,social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

1st Poulner Scout Group was formed in 1970 and moved to its purpose built Headquarters in Southampton Road in 1981.  From here, the Group has gradually grown over the years and now operates two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs, a Scout Troop and an Explorer Unit.  In all, the Group has over 150 young people as members and over 40 adults who play a key part in the smooth running of the Group.

1st Poulner Scout Group is currently working on a project to build a Multi Activity Centre at its Group Headquarters at Poulner. This will not only benefit the Scout Group, but the wider community in general and in particular local schools. The Centre will include facilities forshootingarchery and also a climbing wall.

Over the next year we are organising a programme of events (bag packing at local supermarkets, auctions, quiz nights, social events, an organised run. At each event details of sponsors will be displayed clearly on posters and display boards. They will also appear on our website and press releases sent out before and after each event We anticipate not only being able to position your business as ‘helping the local community’ but also expose its proposition to approximately ten thousand local residents over the next 2 years.
