Destination: End violent conflict
Where: 30 countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, as well as the United States.
How: We work with all sides of a conflict to help them find shared interests and goals through:
- Traditional Peacebuilding (peace talks, dialogue, training leaders, law enforcement reform, and more)
- Popular Media (TV & radio shows, films, training journalists, music videos, comic books, you name it)
- Grassroots Action (community problem-solving, drumming, football matches, participatory theatre, etc.)
Who: We're a non-profit peace-building organization partnering with local agencies around the world
83% of our team members are from the countries they work in. They are constantly creating innovative ways to help their neighbors transform the way they deal with conflict, away from violence toward joint problem-solving.
The Details: Instead of tearing down an existing world, we focus on constructing a new one. We do this through a type of peacebuilding called “conflict transformation.” Meaning: we look to change the everyday interaction between hostile groups of people, so they can work together to build up their community. Our response to conflict doesn’t have to be violence. In fact, though it’s not easy, conflict is an opportunity to make the situation better for everyone involved.
In order to work with all sides of a conflict, we have to remain impartial. We do not take a political, religious, or “good guys vs. bad guys” stance on a situation.
We work at every level of society to promote individual, social, and institutional change. We're committed to measuring the results of our work.
