"Helping Animals, Helping People"

The Tree of Life for Animals (TOLFA) is a busy Animal Hospital nestled between Pushkar & Ajmer in Rajasthan, Northern India.

TOLFA cpened its doors in 2005 after our founder (Rachel Wright) discovered stray dogs were being either poisoned or taken in the desert, tied up and left for dead.

We rescue, treat, sterilise & rabies vaccinate over 3,000 animals every year many of whch would otherwise be left on the streets to die in horrible circumstances.

Here's what you can do - Volunteer in either the UK or India, set up a regular donation, fundraise, talk about us, join our facebook page (TOLFA India & UK), follow us on Twitter (@tolfa)!

A bit more about us ... our four main projects are:

Sterilisation & Rabies Control: EVERY dog that come to our hospital is sterilised to humanely reduce the stray dog population. India has the highest human death rate from rabies in the world. We are fighting this awful disease by vaccinating every dog that comes through the hospital.

Rescue & Care: Our rescue vehicle offers a 24/7 service for ANY animal in need. Every year we respond to thousands of calls for everything from dogs with mange to cows with broken bones and monkeys that have been electrocuted. We have over 200 kennels and large animal enclosures with are always full to capacity with animals needing our help.

Rural Development: Many people in our corner of Rajasthan rely on their animals to provide their income (mainly goat milk) and often it is only the produce from these animals that stands between a whole family & absolute poverty. 365 days of the year we run a FREE clinic for the animals of impoverished people allowing them to get the veterinary treatment that their animals need meaning that we are helping not only the animals but people too.

Education: We aim to making a lasting change in the the lives of animals and people in our local area. We run an education project in local schools of all social and financial standing where we talk to the children about animal welfare, how they can help and also how they can protect them selves against rabies and basic first aid for humans.
