Help us fight food waste and food poverty.
EMERGE 3Rs runs FareShare Greater Manchester which receives surplus in date food and redistributes it to organisations providing meals to the vulnerable and needy across Manchester. Last year we diverted nearly 550 tonnes from landfill which contributed to 1.2M meals for those in food poverty.
FareShare also provides work experience and training for volunteers helping people back on the road to employment. Many of our volunteers are from beneficiary organisations and have been long term unemployed and/or are vulnerable adults themselves. We provide healthy sustainable food awareness training including cookery and 'grow your own veg'. We support the Love Food Hate Waste Programme with cookery demonstrations and initiatives. FareShare currently supports over 150 organisations and we have a waiting list wanting to join us. Our depot is run by 2 paid staff and over 50 volunteers annually. We offer corporate volunteering opportunities and outreach training.
£5 buys 50 Fareshare Meals, prevents 21 kilos of food waste going into landfill and stops 84 kilos of CO2 damaging the environment.
Many thanks for your support.
