Why Help Us

We need your help!

Membership of Brunswick Youth and Community Centre (known locally as "The Brunny") is free, and many of our activities are either free or subsidised to ensure we can help as many people as possible, especially those of limited financial resources.

We believe that lack of money should not prevent people improving their lives through:

We rely on a mix of public and private funding to continue our work. By donating to Brunswick Youth and Community Centre you are helping make a real difference to the community.

About Brunswick Youth and Community Centre

Formerly known as Brunswick Boys Club and Brunswick Youth Club, since 1947 we have been helping people in Bootle, Sefton, and beyond. (Read all about our history here.)

Our charity is dedicated to improving conditions of life by offering programmes for people of all ages based around:

People enjoy activities in our Centre, but we also work out in the community through our outreach programme and adoption of the approach to Bootle Oriel Road train station.

We organise activities away from our Bootle base to places like The Lake District, Rivington Pike, Delamere Forest etc. These enable people of all ages to try healthy outdoor pursuits like canoeing, hiking, climbing, and mountain biking.

Our Community Centre houses a state-of-the-art 3G football pitch, training rooms and IT suite, flexible spaces for activities, and a community garden and outdoor play area.

Perhaps our most famous son is former Liverpool FC and England football player, Jamie Carragher. As he said in his autobiography, "Carra":

My second home was the Brunswick Youth Club- the Brunny- where we’d spend every school holiday having a kick-about in the gym in the afternoon and playing pool in the evening.

We continue to enjoy a strong relationship with Jamie. He has based his Jamie Carragher Sports and Learning Academy at the Centre and we host Jamie Carragher 23 Soccer Schools at our Centre.
