Who we are and what we do

We are an all Terrain Rescue Team working in partnership with Cumbria Fire & Rescue. We specialise in quicksand rescue, and support them with our Hagglund BV206 all terrain amphibious rescue vehicles, 4x4s and trained personnel.

We also assist the Coastguard, Police, Ambulance Service and First Responders on and around the unique Morecambe Bay, Lake District and North Lancashire area.

Since it was started over 10 years ago, the team has been involved in an average of 20-30 operational call outs per year, including providing assistance to H.M. Coastguard during and subsequent to, the Morecambe Bay ‘cockling tragedy’ in 2004 and working for Cumbria Fire and Rescue during the horrific floods in Cockermouth in the Lake District in 2009.

As well as search and rescue/casualty evacuations on the Bay, the team also assists the Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Service, Police and First Responders in any inland work where our team and vehicles can be of use.

Event - Annual Cross Morecambe Bay walk

As an independent charity we rely on the generous donations of the public and local businesses, and fundraising done through events like our Annual Cross Morecambe Bay Walk which you can register for here on this website.

Once registered you can use the system to email your friends and family to get them to sponsor you, they can pay online and we will get any Giftaid added to the money you raise. A really great feature is that you can see the total raised on your own web page.
