Capricorn Animal Rescue
Capricorn Animal Rescue has been established since 1983 and takes in all types unwanted, orphaned, abandoned and abused animals from around the North West and beyond. We are run by a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time freely to care for the animals in the Sanctuary. We are open 7 days a week and on call 24 hours for emergency animal care.
We have over 500 animals in the sanctuary at any one time, these currenlty inlcude;Domestic - Dogs, Cats, Ferrets, Rabbits, Parrots, Turtles, Terrapins, Degus, Rats, Mice, Chinchillas, Hamsters, Cockateils, Budgies, Horses, Lizzards and a pet Pig called Peppa, whose owner purchased her as a micro(dwarf) pig, sheep, goats, snakes and a llama.
We also care for wildlife which has been rescued by members of the public, we will rehabilitate and release all those we can, currenlty we have; Owls, Kestrels, Seagulls, Magpies, Pheasants, Squirrels, Crows, Starlings, Pigeons, Chickens, Hedgehogs and jackdaws
This year is our 33rd Anniversary year and over that time we have saved 100,000 animals and birds, but it is not enough, there are always more waiting to come in, the list, unfortunately, is endless. We are a small dedicated group and we do what fund raising we can, but we have to put the care of the animals in the Sanctuary first. We have to raise £250,000 every year to keep the Sanctuary running and extra funds raised for the rebuilding of the animal housing and new projects at the Sanctuary.
We have had some very large veterinary bills this year, so it is even more difficult for us. TJ, a German Shepherd cross, who had to have her front leg amputated after being hit by a car ; Maisie, a lurcher who was tied to a tree and left to die, when found she was suffering from dehydration and starvation, we weren't sure whe would pull through ; Salem, a little cat who had been re homed by his owner and tried to go back home, and even though he had been hit by a car and both of his hind legs broken, he kept on walking for about 2 weeks until he collapsed due to starvation, he now has both his hind legs if metal braces until the bones have healed. We also take in, as many as we can, dogs from Death Row, in dog pounds, which after 7 days, if unclaimed, they are killed.
We are struggling, we need outside help to keep going, we need your help to keep on saving lives.
Help us to help them, please.
