Galloway’s Society for the Blind was established in 1867 and since then has evolved and developed to provide a range of services to over 6000 blind and visually impaired people across Lancashire and beyond. Operating from 3 Sight Advice Centres across Lancashire and with support groups throughout various towns and villages, the Society strives to reach out and provide an accessible local service. We pride ourselves on being big enough to cope but small enough to care. Galloway’s need to raise £13,500 each and every week to meet the cost of its existing services. The work is funded by the general public by supporting our own fundraising activities and through donations and legacies, along with support from local and national Charitable Trusts, PCTs and Lancashire County Council Adult & Community Services. We also acknowledge and appreciate the work of our 500 volunteers who support Galloway’s in so many ways and help us maintain our place as a good cause within the community. Galloways Mission Statement:- ‘To enable people with a visual impairment to gain greater independence and minimise the effects of reduced vision’.
