Nursing Memorial Appeal
At least 1,500 nurses lost their lives as a direct result of the two World Wars.
Their sacrifice has never been properly recognised and there is no national memorial to them. With your help this Appeal can put that right.
Together we can create a permanent memorial at The National Arboretum to name them all forever. We hope to unveil this during WWI centenary years 2014-2018.
With this memorial we will remember the devotion, care and compassion they showed to others in the most difficult of circumstances.
Please donate what you can. A donation will enable us to carve the name of a nurse and please give us your full details when you donate so we can tell you more about the nurse you've helped to acknowledge on the memorial. Contact details are on this page.
We also aim to create a nursing scholarship and educational resources for schools, so that we can understand and share the nature of their work and contribution to the war effort and to our lives today.
To see all the names of the nurses we've found so far please go to (we will be adding more over the coming year). Thank you.
