The Prostate Cancer Research Centre carries out research into the causes of and treatment for the UK’s most frequently diagnosed male cancer.
Every year, over 30,000 men in the UK are diagnosed as having prostate cancer. 10,000 men will die as a direct result of their cancer which is equivalent to one man every hour. Globally, a man dies of prostate cancer every six minutes.
A man aged 50 has a 1 in 11 chance of being diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime.
Survival rates for advanced prostate cancer have improved little in the past 50 years and we are determined to make improvements in this area. We know that our work is leading towards success. We just don’t know when that success will come. What we do know, however, is that every pound we raise brings that moment closer.
