The Bedford Hospitals Charity was founded in 1988 to improve the equipment and facilities for patients and staff at Bedford Hospitals. Since then, it has raised a total of over £6.5 million, notably £2.5 million for the Primrose Oncology Unit, £365,000 for a new Chemotherapy Preparation Unit and £400,000 to upgrade Cancer Screening equipment in the Endoscopy Department. The latest appeal is to raise £200,000 to modernise the Maternity Unit.
