BOSP Brighter Opportunities through Supported Play
BOSP is a registered charity (1107392) and has been supporting families for over 25 years, by providing fun and exciting activities at weekends, evenings and during school holidays for their children and young people with complex physical, behavioural or medical needs. In 2013/2014, we were awarded the quality mark of 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.
BOSP's Short Break programme strives to provide a wide range of activities in order to develop the children and young person's physical, emotional and social well-being, to promote their confidence, communication and independence in a supportive environment, whilst providing families with essential respite.
Our fun hall-based programme is for those who require the security of a physical space in order to thrive. This is popular with parents who feel their children need a consistent structure and for those who are too young or vulnerable to be off site for extended periods. Activities include amongst others; hydrotherapy swimming, soft play, sensory rooms and garden, sports, crafts and cooking.
Simultaneously we organise out and about club activities in the community. Sessions include trips to the cinema, bowling, restaurants, Canal Ability, Climbing Wall, theatre, and the Medieval Festival. These are aimed at promoting independence through decision making, social skills, money handling and travel.
BOSP maintains a very high staff ratio so that support needs can be met, and to ensure all the children and young people can engage with the activities regardless of their disabilities.
BOSP is almost entirely self-funded and relies on fundraising and donations in order to provide these vital services, so thank you for your kind support, it is much appreciated.
