Families And Friends Of Lesbians And Gays
FFLAG is a national organisation that promotes the well-being of lesbian, gay, and bisexual people and their families and friends.
We offer support, information and advice through our confidential helpline and email answering service. All calls are answered by parent volunteers who have themselves got an LGB daughter or son. We have nearly 20 years of experience in supporting LGB people and their families.
FFLAG’s website receives 900 to 1,000 visits a month from people looking for help and advice and we support hundreds of families and individuals every year. Most parents won’t expect to hear their son or daughter say 'MUM, DAD, I’VE GOT SOMETHING TO TELL YOU. I’M GAY!' Even the most caring of parents can find it difficult to adjust to the idea that their daughter or son is LGB. FFLAG is there to support those parents and to help them build an open, honest and loving relationship with their LGB child. We know that many LGB people find it hard to tell their parents that they’re gay, and we offer advice and support based on our years of experience.
We have supportive literature and booklets; we give talks to groups, schools and businesses; we attend Prides and conferences both in the UK and Europe. We signpost callers to support groups, there is a network of parents’ support groups across the UK.
If you or someone you know needs our support please call our confidential helpline 0845 652 0311 or email email@example.com. Please visit our website www.fflag.org.uk for lots more information. Thank you for reading this and we hope we can count on your support to help keep FFLAG flying.
