Hop Skip and Jump Foundation
Hop Skip and Jump Centres offer, uniquely, cost effective, flexible, immediate and sustained day care for parents and carers of children with all types of special needs and life limiting illnesses however complex:
By focussing on providing space and play therapy the children are given the opportunity to build up their confidence, social skills and self-esteem. Parents have a place to go and be where there is no staring or sneering, or they can leave their child in a caring environment to enable them to spend time with the rest of the family. It is a simple concept.
The first Hop, Skip & Jump Centre near Cheltenham was established in 1982 to give day care to children with life limiting illnesses and any other special need from all over the county of Gloucestershire and further afield. It provides over 12,000 placements a year for people of all ages with special needs from babies to adults. Visitors come both in groups, with their parents and carers, and also on their own, to be cared for by our qualified staff. The Foundation’s second Centre opened in Kingswood in February 2003 to serve Bristol, Bath and the South West as a consequence of the demand of the parents in these areas. The third centre opened in Swindon in July 2011 with a fourth following in Wigan in 2015.
