The Sick Children's Trust
Homepage
The Sick Children's Trust provides 'Home from Home' accommodation for the families of sick children whilst they receive vital medical treatment in hospital often far from home. Families are able to stay together close to their child and offer each other essential support during a difficult and distressing time.
We currently have eight 'Homes from Home' at specialist paediatric centres across the UK. Our houses include all the comforts of home, such as bedrooms where families can get a good night's sleep; kitchens and dining rooms where they can prepare and eat their own meals; communal living areas and bathroom and laundry facilities. The houses are based within minutes of the hospital wards, so that families can see their sick child 24 hours a day. Our aim is to alleviate some of the emotional and financial strains of having a child in hospital, making it as easy as possible for families to focus entirely on their child's recovery.
The Sick Children's Trust receives no statutory funding and relies solely on our loyal supporters and fundraisers to help us to keep our 'Homes from Home' open. We need to raise over £1 million every year to provide this service to families in need; your fundraising will bring us closer to this target!
