Sydenham Garden is an award-winning local charity that aims to transform lives through therapeutic activities. We deliver a range of events and opportunities for the local community, but our service focuses on Lewisham and Bromley residents experiencing mental ill health or other significant illness, enabling them to improve their quality of life, social interaction and physical and mental health in a supportive community environment.

When people join Sydenham Garden, becoming “co-workers”, our staff and volunteers support them in setting goals towards their own recovery, providing encouragement and support to help them achieve them.

Co-workers attend weekly sessions in therapeutic horticulture or art & craft as well as taking part in other activities to support them with their recovery and link them into the wider community. We run trips and visits to other organisations, and events where co-workers can find out about new opportunities available locally.

In the last year we have been able to enrol 45 new co-workers into the project, and over 80 people benefitted from our therapeutic gardening or art & craft sessions. Next year we hope to work with over 100 people.

We also offer accredited training courses- last year co-workers and volunteers achieved 37 new qualifications in courses such as Developing Skills in Garden Horticulture and Felt Making.

These achievements were made possible through the generous financial support of our Friends. Make a donation today by clicking the link on the right, or become a member or Friend of Sydenham Garden
