In memory of Chris Exley

'Moo'  - Born: 25/09/1981 - Passed away: 15/12/2014

Thanks for taking the time to visit this page.

On 15th December 2014, Chris Exley sadly passed away due to severe depression and body dysmorphia.  He was just 33 years old.

I first met Chris in 2002 when he joined our team in the Clerical Support Department of West Yorkshire Police, now known as the Prosecution Team.

He had a passion for Sheffield Wednesday and cricket, and I would often find him practising his cricket moves in the office.  He would keep me updated on all Sheffield Wednesdays games, even though I have no idea about football!!

Chris absolutely adored Phil Collins, and often referred to him as his legend.

As soon as I think of Chris it brings a smile to my face.  He had an incredible ability to make people laugh and smile, even when he wasnt trying to....he was such a character, and would always have a cheeky expression on his face, looking to see which person he could wind up next...!!!

Chris family were his world, and he adored them.

He had a massive heart of gold, was everyones friend, was intensely loyal and just a beautiful person inside and out - he genuinely was a one off!!

This page has been created to enable us to raise money for the Body Dysmorphic Disorder Foundation, who will support people that are in the same position Chris was in.  Any donations that we receive through this page will hopefully help to make someones life a bit easier to live.

There is a charity fundraising event being held at the New Tyke, Thornton Road, Bradford on Saturday 26th September to raise even more money for this worthy cause.  The evening will include a Phil Collins tribute, performed by Rob Lewis who won Stars in Their Eyes in 2005, hot and cold supper, a silent auction and raffles - all of which have some fantastic prizes!!  Tickets and information are available from Louise Nicol on or by calling 07944 620279.

On 4th October Chris brother Mark will be running the Cusworth 10k. This will be no easy feat....not only is Mark not at his peak fitness, in his own words hes got knackered knees and describes himself as a little bit fat!!!  Mark has started his training for the event, which is proving how unfit he is, and says this is one of the hardest things hes ever had to do.  However he is determined to overcome this and complete the run to raise money for the BDD Foundation, and honour his brothers memory.  Any donations in support of Marks efforts can be made on this page.

Over the past few months, many items have been sold on eBay to help fund the charity night - any donations for this would be much appreciated. Please use contact details above.

A baking day is due to be held at work to raise further money for the BDD Foundation, and the work tuckshop is kindly donating half its profits towards the cause.

Donating through Virgin Giving is fast, simple and secure, and your information will not be passed to third parties.

Thankyou from myself and all the family for your support and any donation you feel you can make - if we can change one persons life in his memory, we have made a difference.

Such a terribly sad story about Chris. My heart goes out to his friends and family. Please let it be known that this hideous condition can be treated and people DO recover from it. I speak from personal experience nearly 20 years on.
