Great North Swim for Teddy

Great North Swim for Teddy

On Sunday 12th June 2016, Charlie Grant, and a group of his OGL friends and colleagues, will be tackling the Great North Swim in honour of Charlies little boy, Teddy, who passed away in October, at the tender age of 1. Teddy tragically suffered a complex seizure which resulted in a cardiac arrest. Other than his seizures Teddy had been living an otherwise healthy and very happy life with Charlie, Nikki and big brother Finley.

Charlie decided that he would like to take on a charity event in order to raise money and awareness of The Daisy Garland, a charity which offers help and support to families whose lives have been touched by drug resistant epilepsy.

The Great North Swim which is held at Lake Windermere was an obvious choice for Charlie because the Lake District is very close to his heart as the family holidayed there when Teddy was just six weeks old. Teddys first boat trip was on Lake Windermere and although he slept through most of the trip when he did wake up he couldnt stop looking around at the water. He also had his first swim during that holiday, although not on the lake! These precious and happy memories of the lake and surrounding area make it the perfect challenge for Charlie.

The Great North Swim is Europes biggest open water swimming event and will have around 10,000 participants.

Charlie and the team of eight from OGL including Matt Thomas, Paul Colwell, Ed Ruscoe, Jamie Turvey, Alex Barnett, Lindsey Hall, Lucy Whitcombe and Martyn Clews &ndash have signed up for a selection of distances ranging from 1 mile to 10k. They are joined by friends of Charlie and partners of OGL colleagues making up a team total of 19.

Money raised will go The Daisy Garland where Charlie and Nikki have asked for it to help fund equipment to monitor childrens seizures so that they can lead normal and safe lives.

Please give whatever you can below for this fantastic charity in memory of beautiful Teddy Grant.

Good luck team OGL the whole Company is behind you!
