Hi all, my wife Zoe and I have decided to take part in the Round Britain Reliability Run 2012 which is raising funds for Children with Cancer.
As you will see from the profile picture, the car isn't 'quite' ready and we have less than 3 weeks for me to build it, fit it, wire it, EFI it, test drive it, MOT it and then drive the 418 miles down to the start line outside London.
From there we have 2022 miles to travel in 48 hours, going from London up to John O'Groats for breakfast, travelling down to Lands End for the following breakfast before making our way way back to the start / finish point. This is a genuine endurance event and is not for the faint hearted!
We will be tired. The wife will be driving my car (OH NO!!!). No doubt we will bicker along the way but as long as the car doesn't get damaged I'm sure our marriage will remain strong! However this doesn't include the car self destructing and generally not playing fair... As you can see from the picture anything could happen...!
As everyone knows I'm just back from the Olympics and I'm still training as well as working on the car. Time is tight and we hope to have the car road worthy in time but cannot guarantee this. So, we would like to ask for donations rather than sponsorship so that IF my driveway mechanic skills waiver then Children with Cancer will still benefit.
Should we not make the RBRR, Zoe will give up alcohol for one month in return for everyone's donations. Those who know her will know that this is no mean feat; she'd find it easier and less stressful doing the RBRR twice in a row than go with no chilled white wine for 4 weeks! Needless to say, she is now putting immense pressure on me to finish the car in time...
