Charity
Virgin Unite is the non- profit foundation of the Virgin Group. We unite people to tackle tough social and environmental problems in an entrepreneurial way. Our aim is to help revolutionize the way businesses, government and the social sector work together - driving business as a force for good. This is based on the belief that this is the only way we can tackle the scale and urgency of the challenges facing the world today. All of Virgin Unite’s overheads are covered by Richard Branson and the Virgin Group, meaning that 100% of additional donations received, go direct to the frontline where they are needed most.
Please note Virgin Money Giving isn't responsible for the content fundraisers post on their pages, but if you see something you feel is offensive or inappropriate, please let us know and we'll look into it.
Run with Richard
Hello,
I’m delighted Virgin is sponsoring the London Marathon - it’s an epic and inspirational event which raises a fantastic amount of money for good causes. As you may have heard, our ambition is to help the runners raise £1/4 billion for charity over the next 5 years, adding to the massive £400 million that’s already been raised since the first London Marathon in 1981.
To kick things off on marathon day, I’ll be leading a team of 100 Virgin runners—and some familiar faces you may know—26.2 gruelling miles! The hare and the tortoise comes to mind—I’ll let you guess which one I’ll be!
But it’s all for a great cause — we're aiming to raise as much money as possible to help vulnerable young people in the UK fulfil their potential through Virgin’s non-profit foundation, Virgin Unite.
This is my first marathon and I’ve been trying to train as much as I can (its not been easy!) — I didn't realise your legs had so many muscles and that every one of the seemingly million of them can hurt at the same time! I now have so much respect for the tens of thousands of fundraisers who run the marathon every year — wow! In times like these fundraising for charities is also not easy — so many people in the UK are faced with the daily challenge of making every penny count — it is an incredible testament to the generosity of the British people that they continue to support events such as the Virgin London Marathon.
I am hoping that you’ll help me and the other Virgin runners in supporting vulnerable young people. All of the money you donate will go straight to fantastic charities working with the most vulnerable young people in the UK such as Kids Company, The Foyer Federation, Rathbone and Youth at Risk.
And there's something in it for you too!
Win a trip to Necker!*
For every £5 you donate to here on my Virgin Money Giving page, you’ll get a chance in a prize draw to come visit Necker Island and see all my tracks in the sand for yourself. Click here to read the Terms and conditions.
*Please note that only residents of England, Scotland and Wales aged 18 and over are eligible for the prize draw.
So, thank you so much for your support and encouragement. Wish us luck and look out for me on the finish line (I'll be the tortoise!)
