Charity
Someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer such as leukaemia every 23 minutes. A blood stem cell (or bone marrow) transplant is often the only cure. Currently Anthony Nolan is only able to provide a matching donor for half the people that come to us in need of a lifesaving transplant. With your help we can grow our register of remarkable people willing to donate their stem cells, facilitate more transplants and save more lives. It costs £100 to recruit, tissue type and maintain just one potential donor to our register. Your donations will help fund our lifesaving work. Please visit www.anthonynolan.org for more information or email events@anthonynolan.org if you'd like to get more involved.
Please note Virgin Money Giving isn't responsible for the content fundraisers post on their pages, but if you see something you feel is offensive or inappropriate, please let us know and we'll look into it.
Ayesha's Appeal fundraising page
Hi, thanks for visiting my page.
Ayesha was diagnosed with leukaemia in April 2011. The family are now working with Anthony Nolan to urgently find her a match from the charity’s register of potential donors.
We are asking our supporters to kindly make a donation to support Ayesha's Appeal and her search for a donor.
“Ayesha is a bright and cheerful girl and her courage and sheer determination have surprised all who have met her."
Ayesha has had to endure 10 cycles of intensive chemo, numerous hospitals stays and has lost her hair 3 times in that period. In June 2012 she started her maintenance block of chemo. This runs on a 4 week cycle of low dose chemo and steriods and it is anticpated that this will continue to December 2013.
Ayesha has managed to return to school and feels like a 'normal' person. She attends zumba classes, art and craft classes brownies and is hoping to be a rock start by learning the violin! She has so far managed 60- 70% school attendance. This is positive, but we never plan more than 3 months ahead and how things will look 12 months from now remains uncertain.
It costs £100 to recruit and add each new donor to the register, so we’ve set ourselves a target of raising £150,000 in support of Anthony Nolan. Through the kindness of family, neighbours, friends and strangers who have heard about Ayesha we achieved out initial target of £150,000 in August 2012. We have now decided to continue with fundraising as:
1. We have yet to find a match since our initial search started in August 2011.
2. The 3000+ sample of potential donors from the Anthony Nolan relevant to Ayesha's background have been type matched - no suitable match was found.
3. There are so many people who wish to continue to fund raise or be given the opportunity to do so.
The charity needs money in order to grow their register and provide more matches, so we’re asking everyone to donate what they can to make lifesaving difference to our family and all the families like ours who are still waiting to find a matching transplant donor.
We have also held a number of donor drives to increase the bone marrow donor registry and will continue to do so right through to 2013.

Thank you for your kind donation, every penny counts. We really appreciate your support.
