Phab
Since 1957 Phab has enabled children, young people and adults with and without disabilities to “make more of life together”. Phab supports over 170 Clubs across England and Wales with 8,000 members of all ages. Our exciting holiday projects at fully accessible outdoor activity centres in the New Forest and Lake District enable children with disabilities to enjoy the same challenges and opportunities as their peers, supported by Phab volunteers. Our two wheelchair accessible holiday homes at Weymouth enable families to have a much needed break away together, confident that they will have all they need when they arrive. And we continue working with young people in schools and universities to develop and support Phab Clubs and holiday projects run by students.

The Mellor Family - Still Running For Charity

Fundraiser:
Damian Mellor

Approaching 40 Years of age in 2014, I decided that it was time to get a little fitter and Running a Marathon for a worthy cause has always been a dream of mine.

I searched the internet and discovered 'Phab Kids'. They are a great charity that support both abled and disabled children, bringing them together with opportunities they would not normally have had without the help of 'Phab'.

Previously, as part of the very long build up to The London Marathon 2015, I completed The Bristol Half Marathon in September 2014 and the Bath Half Marathon on Sun 1st March 2015.

Edward & Evelyn Mellor, my 7 Year old twin children, completed the Family Fun Run (1 Mile) on the day of the Bath Half to help with fund raising. My older two, Hannah & William also ran the Mile as the younger two needed an adult with them.

I also entered the Bristol 10K on 31st May and was joined by my Daughter Hannah and my Son William to help with fund raising, neither had run before so this was a new challenge for both of them. We all ran to support children that can't so please show your support for us all by donating via the link below.

About Phab Kids:

Phab's aim is to promote and encourage people of all abilities to come together on equal terms, to achieve complete inclusion within the wider community. Phab celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2007, having been established in 1957 and has now been actively supporting people for 57 years.

What does Phab do?...

  • Phab creates opportunities for children and adults of all abilities to enjoy life together by:
  • Supporting a network of around 180 clubs throughout England and Wales for all age-ranges, offering activities and holidays which members can share and enjoy together.
  • Promoting and encouraging self-confidence and independence in young people of all abilities through a range of diverse projects.
  • Funding special residential breaks – inclusive experiences for disabled and non-disabled children and young people to share in a full range of adventurous outdoor activities at fully accessible activity centres offering specialist tuition.
  • Providing specially equipped and fully accessible holiday units at an award-winning beach site in Dorset at affordable weekly rates.
  • Organising national and regional events for Phab club members and supporters to enjoy together and to promote the Phab philosophy of inclusion.

We all did our very best and hope to be supported by everyone within the Cheddar Community and beyond – You can follow our training via my Facebook Page and in return for our efforts we would appreciate it if you would also 'Like' and 'Share' my Facebook Page with everyone you know.
