Walking With The Wounded
Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) was established in 2010 to raise funds to finance the re-training of wounded servicemen and women and in so doing assist them in acquiring the skills and qualifications necessary to find new careers outside the military. Our ability to fundraise effectively ensures we can finance new qualifications, courses and further education through our First Steps Bursary Scheme as well as via organisations and projects; such as The Warrior Programme and The Poppy Factory. This enables the blind, the burn victims, the mentally injured, the amputees and all the other wounded to rebuild their lives and return to the work place and in so doing provide long-term security for themselves and their families. In conjunction with individual fundraising events, Walking With The Wounded also promotes awareness of the charity, our wounded community and the challenges faced by all those living with disability by undertaking high profile expeditions with wounded veterans and serving soldiers that are generously funded by corporate donors. These corporate sponsorships allow private donations such as yours to go exclusively towards the work we do helping re-educate and retrain our injured veterans. Following the success of our previous expeditions to the North Pole in 2011 and Mount Everest in 2012, this year’s expedition, the South Pole Allied Challenge, is our most ambitious yet, and involves three teams of wounded servicemen and women from the United Kingdom, the United States and the Commonwealth embarking on a race to the Geographic South Pole this December. At a time when so many charities are asking for people's generosity, we are hugely grateful for any donations which are made. Please follow our build up to the expedition at www.walkingwiththewounded.co.uk Many thanks for your support.

In April 2017 I will be joining some old colleagues from the amazing Allied Challenge South Pole Expedition in taking on the heat and sand of the Sahara in the Marathon des Sables, to raise funds for Walking With The Wounded and the programmes they fund for ex service personnel.

All money raised will support the WWTW HEAD START PROGRAMME which supports those with physical, and psychological injury to gain skills and qualifications to start careers outside of the Armed Forces.

I am doing this with Duncan Slater who became the first double amputee to ski to the South Pole and will undoubtedly conquer the heat, sand and rocks of the Sahara.

This is the toughest footrace in the world (Discovery Channel). A multi-day, multi-marathon (250 km) in which competitors must carry all their kit, equipment & food, only water is supplied  and that is rationed.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
