Walking With The Wounded
Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) was established in 2010 to raise funds to finance the re-training of wounded servicemen and women and in so doing assist them in acquiring the skills and qualifications necessary to find new careers outside the military. Our ability to fundraise effectively ensures we can finance new qualifications, courses and further education through our First Steps Bursary Scheme as well as via organisations and projects; such as The Warrior Programme and The Poppy Factory. This enables the blind, the burn victims, the mentally injured, the amputees and all the other wounded to rebuild their lives and return to the work place and in so doing provide long-term security for themselves and their families. In conjunction with individual fundraising events, Walking With The Wounded also promotes awareness of the charity, our wounded community and the challenges faced by all those living with disability by undertaking high profile expeditions with wounded veterans and serving soldiers that are generously funded by corporate donors. These corporate sponsorships allow private donations such as yours to go exclusively towards the work we do helping re-educate and retrain our injured veterans. Following the success of our previous expeditions to the North Pole in 2011 and Mount Everest in 2012, this year’s expedition, the South Pole Allied Challenge, is our most ambitious yet, and involves three teams of wounded servicemen and women from the United Kingdom, the United States and the Commonwealth embarking on a race to the Geographic South Pole this December. At a time when so many charities are asking for people's generosity, we are hugely grateful for any donations which are made. Please follow our build up to the expedition at www.walkingwiththewounded.co.uk Many thanks for your support.

In April 2017 I will be running the 32nd Marathon des Sables in aid of Walking with the Wounded.

Ranked by the Discovery Channel as the toughest footrace on Earth, the MdS is a multi-day "ultra-marathon" covering over 250km in up to 50 degree heat over 6 days....all while carrying everything you need for the week!

It's going to be a huge challenge .....but running for such a worthwhile cause makes it that bit easier. With family in the forces WWTW is a charity close to my heart, as it's mission to support veterans to gain the skills and qualifications necessary to develop new careers outside the military, re-integrate into society and provide long-term security for themselves and their families.

All funds raised will be dedicated to the Head Start Programme, a  mental health initiatve set up to address the increasing needs of ex-service men and women suffering with mental injuries.

Its a fantastic charity, supporting extraordinary individuals who have given and been through so much.

Thank you so much for your support!
