EDF Trading Charity Challenge

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is the charity that saves lives at sea. The RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crews rescue an average of 23 people a day around the coasts and waterways of the UK and the Republic of Ireland. From 235 lifeboat stations, they are well trained and equipped to put to sea in the most fearsome conditions when the call comes. RNLI lifeguards patrol more than 200 beaches in the UK. As well as rescuing people from the water, they are also on hand for first aid and safety advice, making sure everyone can make the most of their day at the beach. Are you passionate about the water? Do you want to be part of a lifesaving team? Whatever the reason for your interest in our work, we’d love to have you onboard. The RNLI is an independent charity and receives no government funding. We rely on public support.

Thank you for visiting our team challenge page.

30 members of EDF Trading will participate in a gruelling 24 hour yacht race across the Baltic Sea on 4-5 September 2010.  Our team members range from trained yacht skippers who are used to sailing regularly to those who have never sailed before.

This is part of a series of challenges that EDF Trading is organising for its European based employees.  The purpose of the challenge series is to raise as much money as possible for charity.

Our goal is very steep - we want to raise £75,000.

Please help us to reach our goal.

Our charity
We have three yachts racing against each other in aid of the RNLI.

The RNLI has saved more than 139,000 lives since its foundation in 1824. Through the years, there have been countless stories of courage against a background of technological developments and social change.

Recent years have seen some major developments, with the introduction of RNLI lifeguards in 2001, and the first lifeboat station on an inland waterway, also in 2001.

RNLI volunteers across the UK and Republic of Ireland are united by a willingness to commit time and energy to a cause about which they are passionate. It is because so many crew members, shore helpers, fundraisers and others are volunteers that such a high proportion of funds can be spent on first-class lifeboats and equipment.

Please help us to raise as much money as possible.  It is only with your generosity that we are able to make this happen.

Please help us to make a difference.  Please give generously.
