Charity
The Esther Benjamins Trust rescues and rehabilitates Nepali children that society has forgotten. We provide residential refuge to trafficking survivors, former street children and the dependents of prisoners. We also support education and vocation initiatives for deaf and disabled young people in Nepal.

Cerro Catedral 10
After an eye opening and inspiring trip last season Mason Earle and I plan to return to Paine this January with full gusto and a keen, naive new team member – George Ullrich! Our main aim is to attempt a new free line on Cerro Catedral in Valle Frances. This 1000m beauty is reputed to have some of the best granite in the area and a myriad of possibilities for new lines. We’re sure to find some great adventure up there!
Having learnt from Nicolas Favresse and Sean Villanueva (xpedition.be) last season we hope to keep our style and choices as impeccable as theirs were. That is, as free as can be, ground up, capsule style, looking good, being cool and fully musically accompanied. To achieve this I am currently attempting to learn the guitar as fast as humanly possible while also climbing occasionally. Updates will come as thick and fast as we can make them from the road. so keep checking back here to stay up to date on our progress.
We are also undertaking the trip in order to raise awareness of The Esther Benjamins Trust. They lead the way in the provision of full-time residential childcare in Nepal.
Currently 130 child trafficking survivors, along with children whose parents are in prison, and former street children are cared for at one of EBT’s 3 refuges across the country. Here they are provided with safe, secure accommodation and good quality education and training to prepare them for an independent adult life. The Trust also helps deaf children and other vulnerable young people through support to a large school for deaf children in Bhairahawa, southwest Nepal, and through skills taught at an integrated mosaic art workshop run by the Trust.
Strategically the Trust can reflect on the success of its follow-up work using legal avenues to close a child trafficking route between impoverished rural villages in Nepal and Indian circuses. There, children ostensibly recruited as performers found themselves in de facto prisons, exploited and abused, often sexually. The Trust retrieved hundreds of children from these circumstances and succeeded in putting all the known trafficking agents behind bars in Nepal.
All money raised will go directly to childcare costs in the refuges helping to sustain the caring environment EBT has created, and provide for the country's forgotten children. For more information please visit their website at www.ebtrust.org.uk.
