Barnardo's
As one of the UK's leading children's charities, Barnardo's works directly with over 100,000 children, young people and their families every year. We run nearly 400 vital projects across the UK, including counselling for children who have been abused, fostering and adoption services, vocational training and disability inclusion groups. Every Barnardo's project is different but each believes in the potential in every child and young person, no matter who they are, what they have done or what they have been through. Whatever the issue from drug misuse to disability; youth crime to mental health; sexual abuse to domestic violence; poverty to homelessness; Barnardo’s believes we can bring out the best in every child.
NSPCC
We’re the only charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. That’s why we help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening.
Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. We’ve saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and survival has doubled over the past 40 years. We fund research into more than 200 types of cancer from the most common, such as breast, bowel, lung and prostate cancers, to rare types of tumours and children’s cancers, we support groundbreaking science that benefits everyone.
Maggie's Centres
A Maggie’s Centre is a place to turn to for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer. Maggie's is an innovative cancer charity providing a programme of practical, emotional and psychological support that empowers people with what they need to live with, through and beyond cancer

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

Most of our friends and family think we're MAD for signing up to swim, bike and run over 140 miles through Austria on the 30th June, 2013.

Gav's story: Following successful knee surgery on both knees in 2011, my surgeon advised me to take up inline sports such as running, swimming and cycling to help regain fitness... I'm not sure he had an Ironman in mind - maybe I took his advice too literally!

Lorna on the other hand has been running for many years, notching up over 13 marathons and a couple of Olympic distance triathlons, now she's set her sights on the long distance triathlon...

This will be our first Ironman race and we'll be not only competing against over 2500 triathletes but against the clock.

We've been training for this race now for more than 13 months. The alarm clock is set at 5:30 a.m. every weekday so Gav can squeeze in a training session before work. We've burned more calories than we can count and worn through several pairs of trainers, bike tyres and swimming goggles in the pursuit of the fitness to get us over the finishing line... But this is nothing compared to the journey many people face in their battles with Cancer, abusive relationships or child cruelty.

We're trying to raise as much cash as possible for the 5 wonderful charities listed on the left of this page. Can we reach £5000 together?

We'd like to think that MAD actually stands for Making A Difference.

Please click on the 'Donate now' button and give as much as you can - let's be MAD together!

Thanks in advance,

Gavin and Lorna Gall
