Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. We’ve saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and survival has doubled over the past 40 years. We fund research into more than 200 types of cancer from the most common, such as breast, bowel, lung and prostate cancers, to rare types of tumours and children’s cancers, we support groundbreaking science that benefits everyone.

As part of CASCAID, the asset management initiative to raise £1m+ for Cancer Research in 2017, I am doing a 500k challenge. This involves four crazy ideas:
Firstly, skiing 100k in a day. Those of you that ski will know this is no easy feat !  That’s a day of full-on racing down the slopes, first to last lift, no stops (not even for a boozy lunch). Is that even possible?
Next up, 2 100k cycle sportifs. I’m not a massive cyclist, so doing 100k is a challenge for me. In fact, the last time I did this I ended up in tears.
Then, running 100k over 10 consecutive days, 10k a day. Doesn’t sound too bad.
And finally, I hit the rowing machine to row 100k in 7 days. Averaging 15k a day, but aiming for 25k on one of the days, just to add to the pain !
All funds raised go to Cancer Research. I don’t need to tell anyone why that’s a great cause, we all know someone who’s suffered. In particular, I’ll be thinking of my Dad and our lovely friend Mark Campbell.

I'll also be doing something extra each month to contribute, things like selling off some of the designer bags I don't use any more or giving up my beloved Starbucks or Champagne for a month and donating my normal spend. Have I gone mad?!
