Inspired By Erin

Inspired by Erin is a charity very close to our hearts:

Erin Bates was 11 years old when she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, after a brave battle with this illness she sadly passed away in 2014. Before Erin was diagnosed she enjoyed an active life and after receiving treatment she was as determined as ever to get back to playing sport once more. Inspired By Erin is a charity set up by Erin’s loving and devoted parents: “ to help children in Erin's situation to return to sport and physical activity in an environment suitable for their needs to promote and improve their physical and mental health”.

The National 3 Peaks Challenge

The 3 Peaks walkers:

Steve Chapman, Brian Douglas, Robbie Pybus, Stephen Pybus, Craig Robinson, Mark Rutter, Keith Tilmouth, Rachael Bland, Mick Redshaw, Chris Sewell, Dave Surrey, Kevin Mills, John Dixon, Liam Tilmouth, Michael Hodgson & Alan Tilmouth

(more walkers to be added soon)

It is with the confidence in Erin’s legacy behind us that we have each decided to take part in the 24-hour National 3 Peak Challenge. The challenge will begin on June 13th 2015 where we will begin to climb the first mountain at 4pm. The 24-hour time includes both walking time and travel between the mountains (approximately 13 hours hillwalking & 11 hours driving)

The Three Mountains are:

Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1344m)
Scarfell Pike, in England (978m)
Snowdon, in Wales (1085m)

  • Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1344m)
  • Scarfell Pike, in England (978m)
  • Snowdon, in Wales (1085m)

In order to achieve this challenge within 24 hours we will need to keep up with a grueling schedule that at some points will have us walking through the small hours of the moring. An example of the schedule is as follows (subject to change):

  • 4pm: Start Ben Nevis (Scotland)
  • 9pm: Finish Ben Nevis and start drive to Scafell Pick (6 hour drive)
  • 3am: Arrive and Start climbing Scafell Pike (England)
  • 7am: Finish Scafell Pike and start drive to Snowdon (5 hour drive)
  • 12pm: Arrive and Start climbing Snowdon
  • 4pm: Finish Snowdon, and complete challenge.

Donations

Our goal is to, with your support, raise as much money as possible for this incredible charity. Any donations great or small will go a long way in helping those children who have faced adversity like Erin and who can, given the opportunity, greatly improve their physical and mental wellbeing through Physical Activity.
