Doncaster YMCA - Doncaster YMCA’s mission is to help young people to reach their full potential. Our vision is to provide places and programmes where all young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive. The focus of our work is a 26-room Hostel for young people in need of support. We recognise that homelessness isn't just about not having a place to live; our residents usually have a range of other issues to contend with too. Each person is assigned to a keyworker, and that relationship enables the resident to explore their problems and work together on finding solutions. We also have a youth volunteering programme, enabling young people aged 16-25 to volunteer at the YMCA. We focus on encouraging those who've never volunteered before, and we find opportunities to fit each person's talents and interests. Our Community Centre enables us to provide a range of social and learning activities for young people, particularly those aged 16-25. We have snooker, pool and darts facilities, and we organise regular and occasional activities for people to meet and learn together.

Doncaster YMCA Sleep Easy

We're sleeping rough so others don't have to! On Saturday 30th January 2010 we will be spending the night in the car park of St Peter-in-Chains Church on Chequer Road. This is part of the YMCA Sleep Easy, a national YMCA sponsored sleep out that aims to raise awareness about homelessness and raise funds to support the work of the YMCA. We plan to spend a night challenging ourselves, and swapping our warm beds for sleeping bags and cardboard, in order to highlight the difficulties experienced by young people who are forced to sleep rough in often harsh conditions. Your sponsorship money will help to change the lives of homeless young people in our community as all proceeds from the Doncaster Sleep Easy event will go to Doncaster YMCA to help address issues surrounding homelessness in the local area.
