My page:

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

I am cycling for The Railway Children. I have never done anything like this and as 2013 is a big year for me, I am doing something every month to celebrate. September will see me take on the biggest challenge I have ever done. Trainiing is starting in Feburary with an 8 month plan to see me fit and healthy for the 250 miles over 4 days.

Thank you so much for coming to my page and whatever you can give is great!

About Railway Children

Railway Children is an international children's charity. We fight for vulnerable children who live alone at risk on the streets, where they suffer abuse and exploitation.

Every year in the UK, over 100,000 children under 16 run away from home. 30% of these are 12 or younger, and 1 in 6 will sleep rough.

These children run away or are forced to leave homes where violence, abuse, and neglect have become part of their daily lives. They also run from 'normal' family backgrounds to escape common problems such as bullying, relationship issues, loneliness and family breakdown.

Research shows it can happen to anyone, with as many children running away from affluent homes as low-income households. 70% of these children are never even reported missing by those supposedly responsible for their welfare and safety.

Unwanted, unloved and often abused, they find themselves living on our streets simply because there's nowhere to go and no one to turn to. Society often denies their existence, but they are out there, and they are failed by a system that should be protecting them.

The problems on the street are often worse that those they endured at home. The threat of violence is often around the next corner and the danger of sexual abuse and exploitation never goes away. Drugs often become a way of life, a welcome escape from the realities of their daily struggles.

Railway Children race to reach children as soon as they arrive on the streets and intervene before an abuser can. Our pioneering work enables us to get to street children before the streets get to them.
