Charity

The Fungal InfectionTrust
The Fungal Infection Trust (formerly the Fungal Research Trust) is a small charity based in the UK registered in 1991. It partly funds the Aspergillus Website which provides information and support for patients, doctors and scientists who deal with aspergillus infections. Aspergillus infections are often fatal and are fungal diseases which can affect patients undergoing treatments for cancer, transplants, asthma, cystic fibrosis, CGD and those who may be immune suppressed for whatever reason. The charity aims to promote education about aspergillus infections, to support scientific research into aspergillus, to improve its diagnosis and treatment and to support the training of specialised scientists working in this area (mycology).

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

I am running the London Marathon in aid of the Fungal Infection Trust!

I'm originally from a small village in Derbyshire. I went to university in Leeds, and did a six year medical degree. Following this I did some house jobs up in Yorkshire, and then moved down to London a couple of years ago. I'm a trainee surgeon now, doing ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) surgery.

We often see fungal disease in our patients in the clinic and on the ward. It's an important part of ENT, and a disease that is often overlooked.

This is my first marathon (!) and although I'm quite a keen runner, this is the furthest I'll ever have trained for. I hope that I make it through the next few months injury free, run well on the day and raise plenty of money and awareness along the way!

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Fungal Infection Trust. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
