The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust
Ectopic pregnancy affects as many as 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK, is the leading cause of death in the first trimester of pregnancy and causes a great deal of physical and emotional trauma to women and their families who have to come to terms with the loss of their baby, reduction in fertility, a risk to their own life and intensive, invasive hospital care all at the same time. We exist to raise awareness and support families through this physical & emotional trauma and supply hospitals with free patient leaflets, receive 1m website hits for our information and manage over 10,000 email and forum messages and 2000 calls yearly.

Keri's 100k Challenge

Keri Wood

My page:

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

I have started to run (ha as if, I mean jog) this year with the plan to do a sponsored run for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, following the support they gave us last year. When I started, given that I had to 'run a lamp post, walk a lamp post' to even run a mile, I had thought I'd work up to asking for sponsorship for a 10k race. I then had an idea, as this week I noticed that I'd reached 100k of training runs. How about I make it more of a challenge worth sponsoring and aim for 100k rather than 10k.

So a little research later and it appears it might be possible (thought not all at once obviously)! I'm planning on doing ten 5K runs and five 10K runs between now and the end of the year. I'll be doing a number of local timed 5k runs(starting today 16th June) then I've begun to register for local 10k's (first one is Stavely Stampede 24th June).

To keep it all official - I have set up this page which automatically sends funds through to the Ectopic Trust and will be wearing their official running vest for each run (Jonathan will get some likely embarassing photographic proof I'm sure which I'll add here). The 100k will be made up of 5 timed runs and 10k races - all of which will be recorded so that I can publish the times (I'll not be breaking Olympic records).

So......... back to my request for support - 100k by the end of the year, Anyone fancy sponsoring me please?

I know that lots of people ask for sponsorship and so appreciate your time and consideration. If you'd like to know more about the difference that even £5 makes to the Ectopic Trust then you can visit their site by clicking on the link on the left.
